Laila is the Founder and President of the first Women in Animation (WIA) club established on any SUNY campus. The student club is an extension of the global non-profit Women in Animation, the only organization dedicated to advancing women in the field of animation. Laila was inspired to launch the club in her senior year to encourage interest in animation careers, focusing on supporting underrepresented groups. Her vision offers academic and professional resources while promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration. Last fall, she coordinated events with special appearances from guest speakers affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, Skydance Animation, Pixar, and more.
